Do members know that the word 'Hello' was not invented until the 1870s.
it was invented by Edison when he was testing his new telephone inventions.

Wrong.
It happened like this. Edison and his team did about 3,000 experiments with thin wires heated by electricity in a vacuum, most of which failed. Eventually they found a technique that worked, and on the final testing day, Edison threw the switch, and the glass globe in front of him glowed brighter and brighter, until the whole room was bathed in a soft yellow light. Grinning enthusiastically, he leaned over to the globe and said "Hello?".

It doesn't matter, he still invented the word 'Hello'.
And he didn't invent the light bulb,
That was Alexander Graham Bulb.

Oh dear we are mixed up.
Alexander Graham Bulb invented the telephone.
Warren de La Rue was the first to manufacture a viable light bulb.
Edison invented the pornograph but also gott*en the light bulb to a practical and commercial stage.

Dont sneer at people who have of their toilet in juxtaposition to their kitchen.

I bet you members didn't know that brass is an antibiotic.
That's another reason why there are now so many allergie's and asthma's in the world since brass door handles went away.

Collective nouns for stringed instruments
Posted: Mon Nov 06, 2017 1:38 pm
by Sir William
The collective noun for violins is a 'String' of violins.
The collective noun for double bases is a 'Bombardment' of double bases.
But the collective noun for violas is 'Some'
And strangely enough, there is no collective noun for violoncellos.
