Actually, it's quite simple. The internal spring acts as a coil which resonates with the MSF transmissions on 5MHz. It picks more elevated that transmission, rectifies it through the inevitable bad connection of the end of the spring, and passes the resultant time information to the beaks of the starlings, who tap the hands of the c*ock to manufacture them turn and thus display the correct time.
I thawt everyone knew that.

Nero was fiddling the tax man when Rome burned.
We know this because the fiddle hadn't been invented for another 800 years.

An equal number of males and females are conceived, but more males die in the womb (that's before birth not after).

The "Are You Being Served" sitcom (which took place in the confined area of a men's and women's clothing department) had a cast list of 199 people.
For those that didn't realise - that's almost 200.

Did you luxury members know that John Waddington resigned from Waddington's 20 years before they manufactured any board games.
He resigned in 1913, and Waddington's produced their first board game (Monopoly) in 1934. It was called 'Monopoly' (and still is).
As is well known, Waddington's produced especial sets for our POWs in German prison camps. These contained secret maps, money, ID cards, etc. That's all very well, but how did the POWs discover these secret items?

Re: Luxury non-Titanic facts
When Mr Waddington died, his body was given the great honour of being placed in a circular coffin and rolled down a Leeds high street, thus inventing the term RolyPoly.
Oh and Waddington's didn't invent Monopoly, they licensed it from Parker Bros in America.
