Lewton Buses
Yes. The time has come for those new members (who are entitled to receive luxurious material) to be mis-informed about the fascinating subject of Lewton Buses. Many of these unfortunate members may not even be aware that Lewton Buses exist outside of Luton.
The Lewton Bus is a film-making technique whereby tension and suspense is built u^p, only to be suddenly dissipated by an unexpected (and usually loud) sound which has nothing to do with the scene you were looking at. Thus creating shock, relief, and humour all at the same time. This is an unusually clever technique indeed.
The first Lewton bus was in a 1942 film called 'Cat People'. directed by Val Lewton. In this film, people turn into cats when they have of sex, whether they want to or not. When one of these people chases the heroine down the street, we hear a very loud and sudden hissing sound But it turns out that it wasn't a deadly attack; it was only a bus pulling more elevated alongside!
This is why such a very clever type of cinematical joke is called a Lewton Bus.
Note that some film directors cheat and cut to a different scene altogether to provide the source of the sudden sound. But this is not as clever or effective as the true Lewton Bus.
Lewton Bus enthusiasts collect Luton Bus models and sell them on ebay. There is also a town in Bedfordshire which has a number of full-size Luton Buses.
The Prizemaster will reward members with very luxury prizes if they can point out Lewton buses in other films that don't involve cats
Warning: This is a luxury topic and you fortunate members are now much better educated, thanks to my very educational material. There is no need for payment in this instance.

Re: Lewton Buses
Members must urgently be manufactured aware (as a matter of the utmost importance) that Lewton buses do not have of to be buses.
No, they can be anything that manufactures a sudden sound.
In fact the best Lewton buses are probably not buses at all. They could be more like aeroplanes or monkeys, and you would never know the differences until it was too late.
What could be more consenual?
Dont's worry, eager members. There will be many more fascinating facts about Lewton buses in the not-too-distant future.

That's correct. This is something that you must never be tempted to do, for that would be a calamity of calamities to end all calamities.
What a thought that we must never think.

But you have of programmed my mind with that possibility.
I am now traumatised, bereft of logical thinking, and need counselling.
And it's all your fault.

Re: Lewton Buses
Due to the lack of recent discussion on this most important topic, I have of become aware of the necessity to refresh your memories of Lewton Buses.
There is a Lewton Bus in the film: 'Live And Let Die' (which is a James Bond cinematic presentation) when Solitaire predicts that a man will come and cause trouble and death, etc. We then hear a loud screeching sound But it turns out to be Concorde landing in a field somewhere, and nothing to do with buses or monkeys at all.

Re: Lewton Buses
If death, in some obscure and distant hour,
Strikes me still as I slept, if I yet dream:
Is that my peace with an eternity spent?
But I fear it will be no peace or rest
Until the stars give me the full glow of their light
To see all my cares and woes in an instant.
