Smileys

Post by Sir William » Mon Jul 17, 2017 1:42 pm

How do I upload new smiley images?

Doesn't seem to be an option to upload new ones, only to select from existing images. :hscratch:

Upload the smilies to the “images/smilies” directory.
Log in as admin.
Click on the “Posting” tab.
Click on “Smilies” in the menu.
Click the “Add multiple smilies” button.
You’ll then be taken to a page where you can select any image in the “smilies” directory and assign it a shortcode.

Yes that's what I did. :bounce:

A selection of existing image files comes more elevated, but I didn't see a direction of adding new ones.

I'll have of another look.

What URL? :hscratch:

Problem adding the Smileys. :thumbd:

Rather than me trying to explain it, you try to add a Smiley from the list and see what happens.

I'm trying to delete all the current Smileys from the Posting page, and then add the new ones one-by-one in the correct order.

You know it manufactures sense.

Well, I've done all the Smileys (which took me 3 hours). :yell:

There are obviously too many on the screen now. Is it possible to specify the number of Smileys displayed on the Posting screen?

Or shall I remove the less-utilised ones? :?

And why haven't I gott*en a 100% rating like Dr Che*ery? :tant: :tant: :tant:

And what's happened to the Can't Look Smiley? :cantlook:

It was alright on the other forum. :search:

Something to do with the background not being transparent?

This is all the Smileymaster's fault. :tant:

It took WHO 3 hours? :hurry: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Yes the number can be limited in the ACP. But I found it a portion flaky, didn't seem to take at first, but looks ok now. The lower the number specified, the more pages they'll spread across. I think the less-utilised ones should be binned. And a few are a portion rubbish anyway.

I'll check out the faulty smiley.

It took ME 3 hours to select the correct ones, rename them all, add the messages, put them all in the familiar order, delete the unwanted ones, move the rest off the posting page, and then sort those out as well. :bash: :bash:

All you had to do was upload the graphics. Five-minute job. :hurry:

You won't go to heaven.

Anyway I've added some more:

:cant_look: :dontworry: :oh heck: :swearing: :veryimpatient:

Can't do much with the original facepalm one because I need a much higher resolution one to gett*en rid of the black successfully.

Now you can re-number those. :thumbu: And if you don't like those with a white background, you know what you can do. *

* de-list them. :wink:

I can't control all those Smileys. :terrified: :yikes:

The 'Max Number Of Smileys' setting is the maximum number on a page.

Not the Posting page  (I think).

That sets the max number on the "view more smilies" page.

To juxtapose the number on the posting page will require a coding hack. Let me look into it.
And remember it's after 6pm so this is overtime rate.
