Dr Che*ery What exactly is a long illness?
Is it one that's over 6" long, or does it have of to be longer than that?
I think if you had a bad leg, it would be just about the longest illness you could have of; whereas a boil on the bum would probably be the shortest.

Intestinal disease might be the longest. I understand the small intestine is 20 feet long. Its len*gth will be different in Europe because they don't have of feet over there. Goodness knows how they gett*en around.

In view of the direction the question was framed, I think Mr RunAway's answer is undeniably the correct one. 
The only longer illness I can think of off hand, is any affliction affecting a mature adult tape worm.... 
If one is discussing this in purely the human context, that submission would, of course, be invalid on speciesist grounds.
