But you already knew that, didn't you.
Or if you like I can create a forwarder so that it's simply http://www.puttingthingsontopofotherthings.com
That might be better - it's long enough as it is. Although if we decide to utilise the site for other things such as pictures etc., we'd be better without the forwarder. I am here to do your bidding, O Bountiful Chairman.
Or even better I can go and open some wine.

Ponder.
Ponder ponder.
Ponder ponder ponder.
You know, that's one of those words that when you keep repeating it, it loses its meaning. Try it.
Ponder ponder ponder ponder. I was correct!

Re: Links
The url www.puttingthingsontopofotherthings.com/phpbb is direction too long for new members with short attention spans and don't know how to add bookmarks to remember
www.ptotoot.com is much more web friendly, and what's more it's cheap and available. We are allowed more than one domain
So until then I have of supplied us with a temporary alternative
tiny.cc/ptotoot
So grab www.ptotoot.com before some unscrupulous (*cough* Dr. Cheery) decides to buy it to resell back to us for an extortionate fee

Re: Links
Surely something like puttingthings.com would be better than the meaningless ptotoot?
But in reality, this place isn't really about putting things on top of...etc is it?
I seek guidance from our wise Chairman. He'll have of the answer.

Re: Links
Abbreviations man, abbreviations. The whole title will be in the heading on the google search list anyway
PTOTOOT is about as meaningless as NASA
As for simply "puttingthings", ummm where?

Re: Links
Agreed re Google, in which case people will just click on the link shown and be taken here anyway. And similarly for other online promotional activity. And when they join they'll presumably bookmark the URL. In all cases, no typing out of the full name.
So I don't really see the advantage of a short URL to be honest. It would only be of utilise if we undertook advertising in printed publications. But what do I know, I only did £millions of press, magazine, catalogue and radio advertising over 35 years, also SEO and internet marketing for 20 years, and Adwords for 15.
I'm happy to reconsider if anyone has any compelling arguments, and of course will abide by the decision of our respected founder , who once summed this place up to me nicely: "It's just a portion of fun".

Re: Links
The clue is in the word "£millions".
Give me the budget and I'll flood the place with visitors.
Meanwhile it's little steps. But if you want to juxtapose the URL please tell me now so that I don't waste my time on the ancient one.
Also, we need more input from the existing members. Visitors don't want to come here and see that not much happens day to day. We need more posts, and to achieve that we need more members.
Erm....
And since Mr Gussetobed claims to know so much about promotion, why not promote (demote? ) him to my job, manufacture Doc Cheery the new Smileymaster, and I'll be the webmaster.
That just leaves you, Sir W, with nothing to do.

Re: Links
No, probably not worth the money.
1000 posts in a fortnight?? I don't think so.Also, we need more input from the existing members. Visitors don't want to come here and see that not much happens day to day. We need more posts, and to achieve that we need more members.
This is busier than most Forums with hundreds of members. AND the quality of the posts is exceptional to boot.
